It has been an up and down week for a lot of people, but lots of news coming out of the car industry, keeping Nikki very busy trying to keep you up to date with what’s going on! There may be uncertainty flying around right now, but let’s focus on the positives and have a look at the most interesting news from last week!
The most exciting news from last week, in my opinion, was the announcement of the brand-new car show on ITV4 hosted by Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman called Lovecars: On the Road which launches Thursday 12th November from 8pm. This is for those of you who, like me, feel that they need to watch some middle-aged blokes drive some nice cars on TV for an hour or so! From Wales to Monte Carlo and driving anything from Alfas to Zondas, this six-part series should satisfy you petrol-heads for the next few weeks!
Moving on from TV, the all-new 2021 VW Golf R will be upon us in 2 days! Yes, the countdown is on for the release of one of my favourite hot hatchbacks. We’ve heard this new model will come with more power, more efficiency and promises to be the best version of the bestselling VW of all time! The power will come from a 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine putting out (apparently) 330bhp. Another highlight of the new Golf R comes from the innovative all-wheel drive system featuring selective wheel torque control on the rear axle. From its original release in 2002, the Golf R (R322 then) was a hit, performing three times as well as predicted in sales! I wouldn’t be surprised if this one does just as well by the sounds of things!

Now, I don’t suppose you have any plans for your holibobs this winter? Well, one of the big stories from the industry last week was a new trend/idea to help save your holiday! A survey taken by Autotrader shows the number of people looking at luxury campervans and motorhomes has risen by 156%! Furthermore, of the Brits in the survey planning a holiday this winter, 71% of them are considering glampervanning as a viable option. Thinking of taking a break over the holiday season? Now, last but certainly not least, the all new Fiat Panda range came out for 2021. You may think this doesn’t interest you but wait… they’ve made a sporty version!! Yes indeed the little Italian car has received a refresh across the range for the new year, which includes 16” alloy wheels, red brake callipers and exclusive matte grey paint for the sport. If you want something sensible that has been made a little more exciting and childish, then this could be for you!
