The Mazda MX-5 has been given a refresh for 2020, both the convertible and RF models have been updated. Ten models are available with four Convertibles and six RFs. The convertible is available in SE-L and Sport trim, both come with the 132ps 1.5-litre. The 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G engine with 184ps is available in Sport Tech and GT Sport Tech trim. The RFs also come with the same line up of trims and engines, the RF is also available with an automatic gearbox when fitted with the 2.0-litre engine in both Sport Tech and GT Sport Tech trim.
New additions for 2020; the range-topping GT Sport Tech model has 17” BBS alloy wheels and Burgundy Nappa leather seats. A new paint; Polymetal Grey Metallic has been added across the entire range. Standard safety equipment has been increased too, for Sport trim and above, these include; Front Smart City Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning System, Rear City Brake Support, Traffic Sign Recognition and Driver Attention Alert. The Sport Tech and GT Sport Tech trim also features Blind Spot Monitoring System with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive LED headlights and a reversing camera, all there features come as standard.
The MX-5 is famous for its handling, winning awards, the mechanical set up has been unchanged for 2020. The 184ps 2.0-litre engine, which was introduced in 2018, is an updated version of the 160ps that originally featured in the fourth generation MX-5 at launch in 2015, featuring lighter components with upgrades too. The redline is now 7,500rpm, additionally, efficiency has increased and torque has risen by 5Nm. 0-62mph for the Convertible cars with the 2.0-litre engine takes 6.5 seconds while the RF models with the manual gearbox are 0.6 seconds faster and with the automatic gearbox are 0.5 seconds faster.
