SEAT Tarraco FR PHEV News

SEAT is expanding the range of their largest SUV, the Tarraco, with both a plug-in hybrid and the FR trim level. Within the first seven months of this year SEAT’s sales are up 7.8%, with the Tarraco helping boost the brand’s visibility worldwide.

The plug-in version consists of a 1.4-litre TSI 110 kW petrol engine, an 85 kW electric motor paired with a 13 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving the Tarraco a full electric range of 50km. The engine and electric motor can also be used in conjunction with each other giving better performance. Power output when combining the petrol engine and electric motor is 245PS/400Nm allowing a top speed of 217km/h and 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds and under 50g/km of CO2.

SEAT’s FR trim gives the Tarraco a sportier presence on the road. Adding wider arches, sporty rear spoiler and FR exclusive 19” alloys, adding an option for 20” machined wheels. New at the front is the FR grille and the rear has new tail light coast-to-coast highlights. Full colour coded body also eludes to the sportier design. A new colour available for the FR too, Fura Grey, allowing further customisation.

A new feature, Trailer Assist, gives the driver a helping hand when towing, making parking easier. Another new feature is the Parking Heater which, during extreme cold temperatures, can heat the engine and cabin faster.

On the inside, occupant comfort is at the forefront, with SEAT’s latest infotainment system including a new navigation system with a 9.2” screen. Front seats have been upgraded to electric sports buckets, with a memory function on the driver’s seat. Aluminium pedals and a FR branded sports steering wheel have also been added, all of this encapsulates the sporty nature of the FR trim level.

With the addition of the plug-in hybrid powertrain and styling of the FR trim, the Tarraco will be a serious contender in the large SUV market. If you’re interested in seeing the SEAT Tarraco FR PHEV first you can see it at its world debut during the IAA Frankfurt International Motorshow, with production to start in 2020.
