We are well into the New Year and the automotive industry is doing its annual parade of honours, bestsellers list, and awards from last year. This is all very good, and we all love to hear what cars the best in terms of popularity, reliability, and style, so we know how to buy in the future. The really good thing now though, is that the 2021 models start to come out, and the 2020 models come to the used market much cheaper! We wanted to take the top 10 bestsellers list and see how much you could save on the used car market compared to their list price less than a year ago.
1. Ford Fiesta: 49,174 Sold | List Price: £16,140 (Base model)
This one will not surprise a single person, as the Fiesta has been the UK’s bestselling new car every year now since 2009! What is up with that?! The fact is that the Fiesta has a perfect blend of efficiency and dynamics is still wooing the UK public as it did more than a decade ago.
With us, you can pick up a nearly new model 2020 with low milage for £9,000! Like this one here.
2. Vauxhall Corsa: 46,439 Sold | List Price: £15,550
The Corsa climbed to number 4 on the sales charts last year, and this year did two better! Vauxhall’s attempt to make this a more desirable supermini has gone swimmingly as they redesigned the looks and even brought in their all-electric Corsa-e.
The CarMoney ninjas have found a whole host of options on our website, and you can pick one up from £11,500 right here!
3. Volkswagen Golf: 43,109 Sold | List Price: £21,000 (Base)
Yes, this was 2019’s runner up for bestsellers, this year slumps to third. But the Golf still remains one of the most common sights on British roads, with every driver in the country knowing what they look like! A Golf is what it is, and will be a reliable, comfortable and a trusted car!
Now, we have found some high-spec, low-milage models for you to peruse, and we have plenty of options for Mk7 Golfs too! You can find a well specified 2020 Golf from £18,000 right here!
4. Ford Focus: 39,372 Sold | List Price: £23,370 (Base)
The never ending back and forth between the Focus and its perennial rival, the Golf continues as this year the Focus drops to 4th, which is still a very strong finish! Plus, the reviews for last year’s model have been pretty decent all-round.
If you are looking for a new-ish Focus on the cheap, you have come to the right place, with models from £15,500 that have voice control, apple/android CarPlay and heated windscreen wash! Find your Focus behind this blue text!
5. Mercedes A-Class: 37,608 Sold | £25,800 (Base)
Mercedes carries the badge of ‘flashy’ or ‘expensive’ sometimes, but the A-Class seems to effortlessly blend affordability (ish) with class and style! You are paying a premium for the quality of the product, but considering it finished in a strong 5th, that shows a strong year against very stern opposition in that category.
Now, Mercedes tends to hold their value a bit better, as you will find with the slightly more premium brands. You can have a low-milage 2020 A-Class for just £18,920! You know what to do by now...
6. Nissan Qashqai: 33,972 Sold | £23,550 (Base)
Rated the best-selling SUV in the country is something to shout about! The Qashqai started life a little unloved, as people weren’t sure if they wanted to switch from their fancy German 4x4s! But as time went on, the Qashqai has grown to be a very common sight on British roads.
The Qashqai is popular, so it is worth noting that there is quite a few options on the second hand market, and you must be thorough! But our ninjas have found loads of good options starting from just £12,000 here!
7. Mini: 31,233 Sold | £21,000 (Base)
The Mini holds a special place in the hearts of all Brits, from its release as a Morris Mini Minor back in 1959 to the release of the first electric Mini, it has remained popular! The 2020 models are well kitted out but perhaps not as well compared to its competitors.
You can pick up a second hand Mini with us from just £15,990! Take a look!
8. Volkswagen Polo: 26,965 Sold | List Price: £17,125
The younger brother of the Golf, and almost as popular! The Polo has been the supermini to compete with for a long time in the UK, but recent years have seen the total domination by the Fiesta in that category.
The big win for the Polo over its rival is the standard tech you get, as it is far superior in that sense, but lacks in the Fiesta’s dynamism and character. You can have a used 2020 Polo for £13,000 if you buy through us here.
9. Ford Puma: 26,294 Sold | List Price: £20,845 (Base)
The Puma is proving to be rather more popular than first predicted, as it was named the ‘Scottish Car of the Year’ and finishes 9th overall in the bestsellers list! The little crossover has been taken to like so many Ford models have been! They have their formula for the British public down to a T!
Fancy a Puma (the car not the wild animal)? You can have one with us if you like for just £18,495 here!
10. Volvo XC40: 25,023 Sold | List Price: £30,675 (Base)
The Volvo brand has not only provided style and comfort, but they also promise safety and reliability over most aspects, so it is no surprise to see it make the top 10! Perhaps on the pricey end of this list, but with Volvo you know what you are paying for!
Why not have a look for your XC40 with us? You can pick one up from £25,495. Find the perfect one to match your lifestyle and budget here!
