Fed up having the slowest car on the school run? Vauxhall has an answer with their new Grandland X Hybrid4!
With many Grandlands being sold with the 1.2l petrol engine, the range was missing something a bit quicker and, rather than just pushing in a bigger engine, Vauxhall has added a hybrid system as well.
Hitting the streets of the UK in January 2020, this will be Vauxhall’s first-ever plug-in hybrid and will lead a wave of new powertrains for current models.
The new drivetrain comprises an electric drive system with two electric motors, all-wheel drive, a 13.2kWh lithium-ion battery and a 1.6T four-cylinder petrol engine and gives the Grandland X the equivalent of 300hp!
The payoff for all this new technology is a combined fuel consumption (WLTP) of 166mpg, low emissions of just 36g/km CO2 and a 0-62 mph time of just 6.1 seconds.
Like most plug-in hybrids, the Vauxhall Grandland X Hybrid4 has an electric-only range of up to 32 miles meaning that for many short journies you won't use any petrol at all.
