Volkswagen has revised the up! For 2020, with the GTI making a comeback, while the whole range has been updated. New safety equipment, new trim levels and the new Volkswagen badge (the first model to feature the updated badge) all feature on the new up!

Last year the up! won more awards than any other car in Volkswagen's range, it is now back for the new decade. Being the first model to feature the new Volkswagen badge in the UK, it also features more equipment as standard including; a multifunction camera with lane assist, curtain airbags and a smartphone cradle.

The up! GTI is back after a short hiatus, it keeps the 115 PS 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine, paired to a six-speed manual gearbox, it reaches 62mph in 8.8 seconds. The other petrol engine available in the up! range is the 60 PS, also a 1.0-litre three-cylinder. The e-up! fully electric version will be available soon, with a range of 162 miles.

New trim levels are available, with generous equipment. Entry-level cars are equipped with 15” “Forzaleza” alloy wheels, five-inch colour Composition screen, smartphone navigation interface and DAB radio. This version is simply called up! it is available as both a three-door and a five-door.

White and Black Edition models are also available, both editions feature 16” “La Boca” Alloy wheels with black or white highlights and a painted roof, mirror caps and dash pads. The White and Black Editions only come as a five-door.

The Beats specification comes with 15” “Radial” alloy wheels, red or black mirror caps and Beats badging. The interior features a Beats 300-watt sound system with an under-boot-floor subwoofer.

A new level to the up! is the R-Line specification, giving 16” “Triangle” black alloy wheels as standard with 17” “Polygon” alloy wheels available as an option. The R-Line comes with black painted roof and mirror caps add to the sportier styling with an R-Line bumper which houses the fog lights. It also has lowered sports suspension, it also receives heated front seats as well as heated and adjustable door mirrors.

The top of the range GTI has 17” “Oswald” allot wheels, GTI badging and trademark “Jacara” checked cloth seats with ambient lighting. The up! GTI gives everyday usability and performance while being affordable to run, it is available as either a three-door or a five-door.
