Jeep Celebrates 80th Birthday in Style

Well, not bad when someone gives out a present on their birthday! Yes, 2 specially made models, Wrangler and Renegade and based off their best-selling iterations! Both will come with higher spec, better tech, and special edition badging all over the shop.

So, what do the new one-off versions of Jeep’s favourite models get that makes them stand out from the crowd? Well, for starters, they have low gloss granite crystal accents across the iconic front grille, while the inside gets a dose of the high-gloss black accents, along with the 80th anniversary badging branded everywhere. The real win for these cars is the advancements in their tech, adding in new safety features, brand new 8.4-inch touchscreen and smartphone integration plus a full LED pack!

Jeep Renegade 80th Anniversary:

The exterior of the Renegade has always had an aggressive, yet puppy-like look to it, and this one is no different. Only it looks better, has 18” alloy wheels, and a sparkly new grille! Inside the cabin you get lovely black leather seats and a whole host of user-friendly technology.

You now get Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, DAB digital radio, GPS navigation and Uconnect services. Unique to the special editions is the new infotainment splash screen with a ‘Since 1941’ theme to it. Further tech additions include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning, and even Lane Departure Warning. For those of us who don’t like to take notice of certain road signs… you also get Traffic Sign Recognition in case you missed it!

The Renegade gets a choice of two Euro 6D Final compliant petrol engines – a 3-cylinder 1.0-litre turbo engine producing 120hp and 190Nm of torque, combined with a six-speed manual transmission, and a 4-cylinder 1.3-litre turbo engine delivering 150hp and 270Nm of torque, paired with a Dual Dry Clutch Transmission (DDCT) – both fitted with front-wheel drive.

Jeep Wrangler 80th Anniversary:

Not that you will need help standing out if you are driving one of these in the UK, but the anniversary one adds even more individuality to this class car. With two-tone 18” alloy wheels and granite crystal accents to help those rims pop! You also get the full LED lights pack and anniversary badging to spruce up the outside some more.

Once again, you get black leather seats with tungsten stitching, leather dashboard and Berber floor mats. The infotainment system and smartphone connection are all identical to the Renegade, but in the Wrangler you get the 9-speaker Alpine audio system with a 552W subwoofer.

Driver assistance is once again pretty comprehensive, with Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision warning also on the Wrangler. Further additions include Advanced brake assist, blind spot monitoring and Keyless Enter N’ Go.

With the Wrangler, you don’t get to choose the engine. It comes with a 4-cylinder 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 272hp and 400nm of torque which has been paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Who would be complaining at that?
